Introducing OpenDuet: Open-Source Proactive AI Coworkers

Today we're releasing OpenDuet - an open-source proactive AI agent that tells you what needs your attention, keeps working while you're away and checks with you before it acts on your behalf.

OpenDuet is completely open source template you host can yourself. Bring any agent through AG-UI, use any model, and make every part of it your own. It's built for web and mobile.

What's inside

OpenDuet lives in one ongoing thread. It tells you what needs you, handles what can wait and asks before it acts. Here's everything we added!

  1. Every morning, OpenDuet sends you a short brief that sorts what needs you from what can wait.
  2. It checks your connected apps in the background and only messages you when something actually needs you.
  3. You talk to it in one ongoing thread, by typing or by voice, from your phone or the web.
  4. Hand it tasks like scheduling a meeting, drafting a reply or building a dashboard, and it keeps working after you close the app.
  5. OpenDuet can get its own computer with a browser, so the work keeps going while your laptop is off.
  6. Before it sends a message, pays an invoice or deletes anything, it shows you the draft and waits. You can allow once, always allow or refuse.
  7. OpenDuet follows the preferences you save and keeps improving with Automatic Learning.

Sensitive actions always need your approval, so OpenDuet only does what you let it.

Run it on your own infrastructure

OpenDuet is built on CopilotKit, AG-UI and CopilotKit Intelligence. Grab a free Intelligence key, then clone it and get started with a few commands:

git clone https://github.com/CopilotKit/OpenDuet.git
cd OpenDuet
npm ci
cp .env.example .env
npm run dev

With Automatic Learning, the way you answer OpenDuet's check-ins turns into reusable skills, and once you review and publish them, OpenDuet loads them on its own.

It's an early, single-owner starting point, so clone it, change the interface, connect your own tools and decide what's worth pinging you about.
