Today we're releasing OpenDots - the open-source alternative to OpenAI Dots!
At DevDay, OpenAI introduced dots: always-on AI coworkers that get their own computer, keep working after you close the chat and bring finished work back to you. It's a great idea, but dots are closed, run only on OpenAI's models and are limited to certain plans and regions.
OpenDots is completely open source and gives you the same thing as a template you host yourself. Bring any agent through AG-UI, use any OpenAI-compatible model, and make every part of it your own. It's available on web and mobile.
Each Dot is a specialist coworker with its own name, role, instructions and tools. Here's everything we added!
Computer access is off by default, so a Dot only gets the access you give it.
OpenDots is built on CopilotKit, AG-UI and CopilotKit Intelligence. Clone it and get started with a few commands:
git clone https://github.com/CopilotKit/OpenDots.git
cd OpenDots
npm ci
cp .env.example .env
npm run devWith Automatic Learning, your conversations turn into reusable skills, and once you review and publish them, your Dot loads them on its own.
It's an early, single-owner starting point, so clone it, change the interface, connect your own tools and build the workflows your team needs.

Want to bring always-on AI coworkers into your company? Talk to our engineers and we'll help you set it up.
We'll keep shipping updates to OpenDots. Have an idea or found a bug? Open an issue or a PR on GitHub, and follow CopilotKit on Twitter for what's next.
If you get stuck, reach out in the CopilotKit or AG-UI communities.
